What is Botox®?

Botox is a brand-name injectable drug that uses the nerve-blocking abilities of botulinum toxin to accomplish a number of clinical and aesthetic goals. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin, meaning it affects the way your nerves communicate with one another and your muscles. More specifically, Botox blocks the signals from nerves that cause your muscles to move.

When you come to Rejuvenate Skin & Wellness Center for Botox injections, Dr. Ansari uses his extensive training to perform your treatment safely so that you get the results you want with minimal side effects. He sits down with you for a consultation during which he asks about your treatment goals and makes sure you’re a candidate for Botox if it aligns with them.

Each Botox treatment involves a series of injections, each using a small amount of the drug to target a specific muscle. The duration of the effects of Botox depends on the purpose for getting them, with the minimum at about three months. Still, you can schedule repeated Botox injections to maintain your results.

What can I treat with Botox?

Botox is a versatile injectable with many available applications. At Rejuvenate Skin & Wellness Center, Dr. Ansari performs Botox injections to treat:

Wrinkles and fine lines

The most prominent use for Botox is to cosmetically treat fine facial lines like crow’s feet and frown lines.

Gummy smile

If you can see a significant portion of your gums when you smile, a few Botox injections can improve the proportions of your smile.

Face and eye twitching

Botox can reduce involuntary face and eye twitches, including blepharospasm (eyelid spasms).

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by excessive sweating. Botox can treat your sweat glands to reduce sweating under your arms and in other areas.

Migraine headaches

Migraines are a specific and severe type of headache that also cause light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea, and other symptoms. If you get many headaches in a month including migraines, you might be a candidate to treat them with regular Botox injections.

Am I a good candidate for Botox injections?

Before you get Botox for any purpose, you should book a consultation with Dr. Ansari to discuss the treatment and make sure you can get it safely for your intended purpose. You might be a good candidate to use Botox in your treatment if you:

  • Are over 18
  • Have generally good health
  • Don’t have any muscle or nerve conditions
  • Aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have realistic expectations for the results

Dr. Ansari can answer all of your questions about Botox and its effects during your consultation. If you’re uncertain about Botox for yourself or if you aren’t a good candidate, Dr. Ansari can help you explore other possible treatments for your condition.
